Midday Supervisor

A vacancy has arisen in our school for a Midday Supervisor to work as part of a team to supervise pupils in designated areas of the school during the lunch break and to ensure their safety, welfare and general conduct through appropriate application of the school's policies and procedures.

Required for 8 hours 45 minutes per week to start ASAP on or after Wednesday April 23rd 2025 .

Salary Range : PCD3 £24,027 ( A)  per annum pro rata (plus the living wage supplement hourly rate £12.60)  , term time only (38 weeks).  

The working hours will be 11.30am-1.15pm.

Permanent contract subject to the successful completion of a 6 month induction period.

Duties will include preparing children for the lunchtime break by the supervision of washing hands, escorting children to and from the hall, assisting during meal times, cleaning up tables etc, developing children’s table manners, supervising and playing with children in the playground, dealing with behaviour incidents in line with school policy, dealing with minor first aid / incidents and to be aware of the fire drill and other health and safety procedures.

Previous experience of working within a school, or with children, is desirable but not essential. Training will be given where required.

Pupil Escort

Pupil Escort (Casual/Pt including weekends)
8 hours per week plus overtime

The working hours are flexible but will always include weekend morning work from 8am to 12pm.

 St George’s require apupil escort to assist in a social intiative to support children accessing local sport through the ‘Step up and Play’ scheme.

What is ‘Step up and Play’? 
Step up and Play is four schools in Central Barrow-in-Furness, working together outside school time, with some help through the Furness Education and Skills Partnership. 
What are they trying to do?
They want to make sure that children aged 4-11 in Central Barrow  get as many chances as everyone else to join a local sports club if they wish. They do this by helping children attend training, practising and competitions. 
How will you help?
Provide minibus escort to the different sports clubs by picking the children up and dropping them off. Supervise the children during the training or matches as a point of contact, , then escort them home. They will also liase with clubs and support safeguarding.

The work is varied and flexible but a willingness to work weekend mornings is essential.

George Hastwell School :

George Hastwell School is situated on Walney Island in Barrow in Furness which itself is situated close to the Southern Lake District, in the County of Westmorland and Furness.

The school has 93 pupils across two sites, in close proximity. Key Stage 4 and 5 co locate within Walney Secondary School.
