Headteacher

Headteacher
Key stage Early years, Key stage 1, Key stage 2
Working pattern Full time with up to 0.5 FTE teaching commitment
Contract type Permanent

Are you looking for a new role in a small friendly and family focused school, where the wellbeing of  the children is our focus?

Following the announcement of our current headteacher’s retirement, the Governors of Bolton Primary School are looking to appoint a caring, inspiring and collegiate leader to further develop our school.

We seek a visible leader who will carry the school community forward, building on our current  strengths and who is not afraid to introduce incremental change in an inclusive manner. Our outgoing headteacher currently chooses to take a 0.5 FTE teaching commitment, however the governors look forward to working with the new head to consider the teaching commitment and which year groups/subject interests which would suit their strengths.

Our nurturing school is located in the heart of the community it is proud to serve. Bolton is a small village off the A66, conveniently located between Penrith and Appleby-in-Westmorland. We have high  expectations of the children and offer a caring environment which ensure that our pupils thrive. As a result, parents from within and outside our community choose the school for their children.

Bolton Primary School currently has a capacity to teach 60 children, we are fortunate to currently have a full roll and expect this situation to continue as parents from within our community and further afield, choose to educate their children with us. We have strong ties to the Bolton Nursery, and work  closely with them, in order to ensure a smooth transition for children transitioning to the school from
Nursery, as well as the Nursery offering Breakfast and After School Clubsto enrolled pupils. The school is divided into three classes (EYFS/KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2). Our last Ofsted inspection in 2023 rated the school as ‘good’ in all areas, and commented

“Pupils are happy at Bolton Primary School. Leaders’ values of ‘caring, inspiring, enjoying and excelling’  are lived out by pupils, including chil dren in the early years. Pupils are kind and caring towards each  other. They value the friendships that they have with pupils of all ages, and appreciate the family feel  of the school.” Ofsted June 2023

We take care to ensure that pupils thrive and achieve to their fullest extent, whatever their individual needs. As a highly inclusive school, we prioritise the needs of the most vulnerable. The staff team are  committed to building trusting relationships with the parent body. They know pupils and their families  exceptionally well and we want a leader who will take time to do the same. Our new headteacher will
be someone who goes the extra mile to ensure that the needs of our pupils and their families are met.
