Spectator information
The Tour de France is one of the largest free annual sporting events in the world, attracting around 10 to 12 million spectators each year.
In 2027, the race returns to Britain for the fifth time, attracting visitors from across the UK and beyond. It is expected the Grand Depart will attract circa 750,000 extra visitors to Cumbria over the two stages it is in the County in July.
Spectators can watch the race for free from roadside locations.
Before the riders pass, a publicity caravan travels along the route. This involves vehicles from event partners providing entertainment and giving out promotional items to spectators.
