As the nation prepares to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, Westmorland and Furness Council is calling on organisations across the area to help improve support for local veterans.
Bunting and flags will be unfurled, beacons lit and parties and gatherings organised as communities in Westmorland and Furness come together to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Barrow is the place to be this spring and summer with a wide-ranging programme of creative, cultural and family events organised over the coming months.
People registered to vote by post in Westmorland and Furness are being advised to submit new postal vote applications in letters sent by the council’s electoral services team following changes to the applications process.
Westmorland and Furness Council will continue to provide key services over the Early May Bank Holiday but some of its offices will be closed on Monday 5 May 2025.
