About Best Start Family Hubs
Best Start Family Hubs provide support and guidance to families with children aged 0-19 (25 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities) in Westmorland and Furness. We aim to keep children, young people and their families happy, healthy and safe by providing spaces and places to learn and thrive.
Activities and support
We work with a range of partner organisations to help meet the needs of our communities and the families living within them.
Access to health visitors and midwives
A range of clinics and programmes to help prepare for your baby and develop strong bonding and attachment.
Early years support
Including infant feeding, baby massage, weaning advice, first aid and early language programmes.
Activities for children under 5 years old
Designed to support child development, language skills and help parents improve the home learning environment, so that children are ready for school.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
We know some children and their caregivers need more support, and we are here to help through sensory rooms and SEND drop-in sessions.
School age children
A range of activities and family days, as well as the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF).
Young people
We offer activities, programmes, support and advice for our young people and their families. Sessions are aimed to support mental health, wellbeing and management of emotions, tailored to the individual needs a young person might have.
Parenting support
Through groups and parenting programmes, alongside finance and benefits.
Any family living in Westmorland and Furness with children aged 0–19 (or up to 25 with SEND) is welcome. You don’t need a referral, just drop in and speak to a member of the team.
