Your voice matters - join the Child Friendly Westmorland and Furness Steering Group and help turn great ideas into real change

About the Child Friendly Westmorland and Furness Steering Group

Westmorland and Furness are calling all young people who want to make a difference.

This group is for young people who care about making the area we live in better for children and young people by speaking up, taking action and making real change happen.

We are looking for young people aged between 11 to 18 to join a steering group to help Westmorland and Furness become a child friendly community.

To join the group you must live, attend school or college, or work within Westmorland and Furness.

We need you to help us:

  • make sure young people’s voices are heard
  • help shape local decisions
  • work with leaders and organisations
  • make a difference in your communities
  • meet new people, learn new skills and have fun

Meetings will take place online or in person, with some project work at weekends and in the holidays. Projects will be led by the young people in the Steering Group and in partnership with other groups in Westmorland and Furness.

There will also be opportunities to undertake training as a Young Inspector.

If you would like to find out more or join the group then please email rightsandparticipation.waf@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk and one of our workers (Emma or Sarah) will get back in touch with you.
