Choosing a school for your child

Specialist resourced provision

Resourced Provision is specialist support for children and young people with SEND in mainstream schools.

Children in Resourced Provision are part of their school community. They learn alongside their peers and also receive extra help from staff with specialist skills and training.

The support each child receives will be based on their strengths and needs. This might include:

  • specialist teaching
  • support for communication and interaction
  • help with emotional wellbeing
  • adapted resources and learning spaces
  • small group or individual support

Resourced Provision helps children and young people to:

  • feel included
  • make friends and build confidence
  • take part in school life
  • make good progress
  • prepare for the future

Places are usually offered through the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. The Local Authority works closely with schools and families to make sure children access the support that best meets their needs.

On this page you can find details of all Resourced Provision settings across Cumbria, including the type of support available, age range and contact details for each school.
