The Role:

You will be teaching for two days per week, supported by teaching assistants. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of all pupils while fostering a positive, nurturing classroom environment. We are offering a fixed term contract due to staffing uncertainties. This post may have the potential for a permanent contract commencing in September 2025.

As a teaching assistant/ senior teaching assistant you will be enhancing the learning of pupils who have a wide range of special educational and learning needs.  You will also be supporting the teaching staff in enabling the pupils to gain independence, participate fully in the curriculum and the general life of the school. The ideal candidate for this role will:
•    Have prior, recent experience of working with children in an educational context or in a nursery
•    Have at least Level Two qualification in ‘Supporting Teaching and Learning’
•    Support at lunchtime with a 30-minute lunch duty
•    Be able to support pupils 1:1
•    In conjunction with the SENDCO assist with the development of social skills and appropriate behaviour of pupils
•    Participate in the development, delivery and monitoring of individual programmes
•    Attend relevant INSET and engage with CPD
•    Have a sense of creativity and be eager to get involved, working with the children and teachers on projects
•    Be full of energy and enthusiasm
•    Demonstrate high level computing skills, most favorably with Apple Technology
•    Have an approachable, calm and professional manner
•    Have positive behaviour management skills
•    Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in working practices and the ability to know when to use initiative
•    Have a strong academic background with strong literacy and numeracy skills
•    Set high expectations in line with the school's standards
•    Have positive working relationships with children, staff and parents

Part-time Senior Teaching Assistant

Askam Village School is a friendly and welcoming school where ‘Everybody Matters and Every Moment Counts’. 
There are currently 170 children on roll from Nursery to Year 6.

We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Teaching Assistant to join our lovely school as soon as is possible. Senior Teaching Assistant – 30 hours

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated teaching assistant, who will contribute to our creative and quality learning experiences.

-    Have previous experience of working 1-1 and supporting small groups

-    Hold NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
