The directors of the Mater Christi Trust and governors of St Bernard’s Catholic High School in Barrow-in-Furness are looking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher. 

St Bernard’s Catholic High School is in a beautiful corner of Cumbria, a stone’s throw from the lake District National Park – an incredible place to live and work. The Governing Body is seeking to appoint an inspiring and talented teacher of Modern Foreign Languages.  The successful candidate will teach French and Spanish at Key Stage 3 and one or more languages at Key Stages 4 and 5. Queen Elizabeth Grammar School are looking to appoint a conscientious, adaptable technician to support the Science curriculum.   This is a busy and varied role and candidates should have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. 

Under the instruction/guidance of senior staff, to provide assistance and information as required in the preparation of resources, maintenance and support to staff and pupils.

The successful candidate will:
•    Line manage the laboratory technicians including completing induction, probationary and performance management processes
•    Provide/arrange provision of training for technicians
•    Assist the Head of Science in the collation of internal student assessment data
•    Be responsible for the maintenance of up to date records of all appropriate stock, including chemicals, books and catalogues.  Administer the distribution and collection of textbooks
•    Ensure compliance with the latest COSHH regulations and organise proper storage and monitor conditions of chemicals and equipment.  Arrange safe disposal of chemical and biological waste materials
•    Monitor and ensure the regular services of equipment, including ensuring electrical safety testing has been carried out as necessary, and the safe storage of science department radioactive sources. 
•    Prepare, distribute, set out and check materials requested by staff for lessons and required practical assessments; to collect in after use and return to store
•    Maintain laboratory apparatus, equipment and stationery; clean, check and carry out basic repairs.  Assist in the construction and modification of basic apparatus when required
•    Support staff and pupils with practical work in the classroom during lessons when appropriate
