Getting an Occupational Therapy Assessment
A referral to the children’s occupational therapy service should be made when there are concerns about the child’s ability to:
- play
- their self-care
- their school life
The Occupational Therapy team will consider:
- the age of the child/young person
- their developmental level
- the environment and the readiness for working on change
Please note: a referral for a child who is managing activities of daily living regardless of their diagnosis will not meet the threshold for the Occupational Therapy service.
We are not able to accept referrals requesting specific assessments.
However, there is a wide range of support on the Supporting Children with Sensory Processing Needs webpage.
Here you can find videos and resources to help your child/young person.
