Child employment and entertainment is part of the Access to Education service. This service is responsible for processing chaperone applications.
What information we collect
We need some personal data from you. This includes:
- name
- date of birth
- address
- email address
- National Insurance Number and right to work in the UK
- disability and health information
- qualifications
- employment information
We do not need any special category data from you.
The criminal and law enforcement data requirements include an enhanced DBS check with the children’s barred list. This is because the chaperone role is a regulated activity with children.
How we collect your data
We collect this data by:
- the Application for Approval as Chaperone form
- the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- the Local Authority Social Care records check
Why we collect your data
We collect data to assess the suitability of an applicant seeking to undertake the role of a Local Authority Approved Chaperone.
Who we share your personal data with
Where there is a lawful reason to do so, we may share your data with the:
- police
- council's Legal team
- council's Social Care team, for example, Lado
Legal basis
If personal data is being processed the council must select at least one legal basis from the list below:
- UKGDPR Article 6(1) (c) Legal Obligation
- UKGDPR Article 6(1) (e) Public Task/Public Interest/Official Authority
Where the council is relying on UKGDPR Article 6(1)(c), all relevant legislation is listed below.
Any special category personal data must be processed under the condition of UKGDPR Article 9(2) (b) Employment/social security and social protection.
Any criminal/law enforcement data must be processed under the condition of UKGDPR Schedule 8(6) Legal Claims.
