The Armed Forces Referrals is a facility specifically set up to refer or signpost members of the Armed Forces community and their families to approved partner organisations who provide relevant community-based support services.
What information we collect
We need some personal data from you. This includes your:
- name
- contact details
- Armed Forces status
- basic non sensitive description of the support required
We need some special category from you. This includes any essential risk or safety information.
We do not need any criminal or law enforcement data from you.
How we collect your data
We collect this data from you:
- in person during any face to face interaction with us
- over the phone
Why we collect your data
We collect data so we can provide relevant support services to:
- serving Armed Forces personnel
- veterans
- reservists
- the families of the above
Who we share your personal data with
Where there is a lawful reason to do so, we may share your data with approved Armed Forces community based organisations. These organisation must sign an Information Sharing Agreement with the Council.
We may receive personal, special category personal or criminal and law enforcement data about you from the third parties mentioned above and other public bodies and organisations. In this case, we will tell you the source of the information unless we are unable to do so by law.

We process personal data under at least one legal basis from the list below:
- UKGDPR Article 6(1) (a) Consent
- UKGDPR Article 6(1) (d) Vital Interests
We process special category personal data under the condition of UKGDPR Article 9(2) (a) Explicit consent.
